Pipedash
Getting Started

Installation

Pipedash 0.1.1 installers for macOS, Linux, Windows and iOS, and the Docker image. File names and the data directory per platform.

Each tab below lists the install files of release v0.1.1 for one platform. The downloads page links every installer, the App Store page and the Docker image.

The macOS download is pipedash_0.1.1_universal.dmg. The disk image is a universal build, so one file covers Intel and Apple silicon Macs. Pipedash installs by dragging it from the opened disk image to the Applications folder.

The release also ships pipedash_universal.app.tar.gz, which holds the app bundle.

Data directory

Pipedash stores its SQLite database as pipedash.db inside a pipedash folder in the platform data directory.

PlatformDefault data directory
Linux$XDG_DATA_HOME/pipedash, or ~/.local/share/pipedash when XDG_DATA_HOME is unset or not an absolute path
macOS~/Library/Application Support/pipedash
WindowsC:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\pipedash

If the platform has no data directory, for example when the system defines no home directory, Pipedash falls back to a relative .pipedash folder.

Two settings change the location:

  • PIPEDASH_DATA_DIR: an environment variable that replaces the default path.
  • storage.data_dir: a config value that wins over the default when it is not empty. The setup wizard shows it as the Data Directory field.

The desktop app also looks for a config file at pipedash/config.toml inside the platform config directory. If that file does not exist, it uses config.toml in the data directory. PIPEDASH_CONFIG_PATH overrides both. The setup wizard page covers the first launch.
